$2500 SAME Robins AFB Post 2024 Rick Powers Memorial College Scholarship

Future engineers and professional mentors passing on scholarship opportunities,

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is non-profit professional engineering association headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia with Chapters (called Posts) worldwide. Its mission is to bring together professional engineers and those in engineering-related fields; to improve and increase the engineering capabilities of the nation; and to exchange and advance the knowledge of engineering technologies, applications, and practices. Each year, the Robins Air Force Base Post of SAME provides college scholarships to deserving students who are interested in pursuing an education in engineering to help begin this education and mentoring process.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1. Graduating High School Senior or 1st or 2nd year College Student
2. Planning to pursue an Engineering (not Medical or Biomedical) or Architecture degree or already enrolled in an Engineering or Architecture degree program
3. Have a minimum of a 3.0 out of 4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average and maintain that in college while receiving the scholarship

SELECTION:

1. A board of SAME officers will make the selection.
2. Selection will be based on academic achievement, character, personal merit, and commitment towards the field of engineering. Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed.
3. Selection will be made with no regard to race, color, creed, sex, or national origin.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:

Two scholarships awarded for $2,500 each. Each scholarship will be paid out in two installments: $1,250 in the fall after scholarship award (must be enrolled in a college engineering or architecture degree program) and $1,250 in the year after scholarship award (again, must be enrolled in the program and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA). The second installment is provided at the start of the second fall semester/quarter.
